Travel and Tourism

Students will study the Pearson BTEC Tech award course.

The course a mixture of coursework and exam to showcase student learning. Course work includes topics that cover many important issues within the Travel and Tourism industry, such as the use of technology and market research methods. The course allows students to gain a very good understanding of the key concepts within Travel and Tourism and allows them to apply these concepts to real world scenarios. Key features of the course include:

Component 1: Ownership and aims of Travel and Tourism organisations, how different organisations can work together, the use of consumer technology, creating trips for a specific visitor profile and route planning.

Component 2: The difference between primary and secondary market research methods, the use of secondary market research for a specific Travel and Tourism organisation, meeting specific customer needs in different Travel and Tourism organisations, budgeting and creating a detailed travel plan for a specific client.

Component 3: External factors influencing Travel and Tourism, responses to these factors, impacts of tourism on people and the environment, traffic management, the stages of tourism, destination type and sustainability.
