Celebrating GCSE Success at Ormiston Denes Academy

This morning, we came together as a school community to celebrate the hard work, resilience and achievements of our wonderful Year 11 students as they collected their GCSE results.

We are so proud of our students, who have shown dedication and determination over the past two years. Their results reflect not only individual effort, but also the strength of our academy – where ambition, perseverance and support go hand in hand.

This year, results improved across the majority of subjects, with some stand-out successes. In Religious Education, 31% of our students achieved a grade 7 or higher, while in Art and Design, an incredible 88% achieved at least a grade 4.

Some of our student highlights include:

  • Erin – three grade 8s in English language, history and RE, plus four grade 7s across English literature, maths, science and Spanish.
  • Ollie Cleall – grade 9s in English literature and history, alongside 8s in English language and geography, and strong 7s in RE and science.
  • Gracie-Kae Lovell – showed extraordinary resilience after life-changing injuries caused her to miss most of Year 10, going on to secure six solid passes including English and maths.
  • Halleluyah Anthony-Bawa and Viola Bobadilla – both achieved eight grade 4s and above, including in English and maths, despite being in the English education system for less than a year. Their determination has inspired us all.

This year’s results also follow a fantastic milestone for our school — in April, Ofsted rated us Good in every category for the first time in four inspections. Inspectors praised us for being “highly ambitious for every student to succeed academically and develop personally” and highlighted our curriculum and staff training as enabling students to “reach their full potential.”

We are incredibly proud of each and every one of our students. At Denes, we believe in helping all our young people achieve their very best academically, socially and personally, and these results are a testament to their hard work, supported by their families and our dedicated staff.

Kate Williams, Principal, said: “This group of Year 11s is so special and it has been a privilege to see them grow and learn as young individuals. We are so proud to see them achieve such excellent results, which are testament to their exceptional attitudes and dedication. We know they have very bright futures ahead of them. Congratulations from all of us at Ormiston Denes Academy!”
